SUPER VISA INSURANCE IN CAMBRIDGE

What should you check before buying Super Visa insurance?

Parents and grandparents visiting family in Cambridge, Galt, Preston, Hespeler, Kitchener or Waterloo may need an insurance policy that satisfies immigration rules and fits their individual medical needs. The lowest premium is not always the most suitable coverage.

01

Confirm the current IRCC requirements

Super Visa health insurance requires at least CAD $100,000 in emergency coverage, a minimum one-year policy from entry, and benefits for health care, hospitalization and repatriation. An issued policy may be paid in full or in instalments with a deposit; a quotation alone is insufficient.

Read official IRCC insurance rules ↗
02

Review medical history and stability wording

High blood pressure, diabetes or other existing conditions do not automatically mean the same outcome with every plan. Each insurer has its own eligibility questions, stability-period definitions, benefits and exclusions. Review the policy wording before you buy.

03

Compare deductibles and payment terms

A higher deductible may reduce the premium but can increase the insured person's out-of-pocket cost when making a claim. Check effective dates, payment obligations, claims procedures, cancellation terms and refund rules—not just the displayed price.

Current immigration guidance was checked against the Government of Canada in October 2026. Immigration eligibility and insurance coverage are separate decisions; policy terms control benefits and exclusions.

SELECT THE RIGHT COVERAGE TYPE

Super Visa insurance or Visitors to Canada insurance?

These plans may share emergency medical benefits, but they serve different travel and immigration circumstances. Start with the visitor's status, length of stay and health needs.

QUICK ANSWERS

Questions people ask first

Is $100,000 required?
Yes. The IRCC minimum emergency coverage requirement is CAD $100,000 per applicant, together with the other required policy conditions.
Can I pay by instalment?
A qualifying issued policy may be paid in instalments with a deposit. Payment structure and ongoing coverage conditions depend on the insurer.
Can I change my arrival date?
Many insurers allow changes before the coverage effective date, subject to timing and terms. Ask before purchase.
Can Super Visa insurance be purchased from a foreign insurer?

Yes, if the foreign insurer satisfies IRCC's specific authorization and Canadian-business requirements. Not every foreign travel insurer qualifies. A Canadian insurance company or a qualifying insurer outside Canada may issue acceptable coverage. Check the Government of Canada rules.

Will visitors to Cambridge be covered by OHIP?

Tourists and most temporary visitors are not eligible for Ontario's provincial health coverage. Private emergency medical insurance can help protect against covered hospital and physician costs, subject to policy terms. See Visitors Insurance options.

Can I compare life insurance and investments with Pankaj Bhatia?

Yes. Our Cambridge services include guidance on life insurance, critical illness insurance, and investment and retirement planning. These products are assessed independently according to your circumstances and eligibility.
